Summit American Modified Series

Lee Takes Win at Circle City

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(June 26, 2021) – The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series made its first ever appearance on Saturday night at the Circle City Raceway. The event helped kick off a week of action at the Marion County Fairgrounds during the Marion County Fair.
Twenty-eight cars signed in for the opportunity to capture the $3,000 to win main event. The action got underway with Allstar Performance qualifying. Victor Lee from Danville, KY was the overall fast qualifier with a lap of 14.082 seconds. Qualifying action set the lineups for three heat races that would determine the lineup for the feature event.
Hypercoils Heat Race #1 got the racing action underway at Circle City Raceway. Pole sitter Victor Lee got out front on the opening lap and ran away with the heat win. Warsaw, IN driver Dillion Nusbaum finished second. Dylan Woodling, Jimmy Hayden and Josh Lolmaugh all transferred on to the main event.
In heat race #2 presented by Willy’s Carb and Dyno it was Royal Center, IN youngster Garrett Jameson who picked up the win. Zeke McKenzie crossed the stripe in the runner up spot. Drivers Will Bennett, Jacob Rexing and Richie Lex would be the other contenders who moved on to the feature event.
The final heat race of the night went to Derek Losh. Derek made it look easy during Fast Shaft heat #3. Bradley Jameson would finish second. Series points leader Brian Shaw came home in third. Brent Weaver and Andy Sherley also transferred on to the main event.
It took a VP Race Fuels sponsored B-Main to set the final starters at Circle City. After several Quickcar yellow flags it was Jesse Strange who managed to get the win. Jack Dossey, from Indianapolis finished second. Nick Richards, Logan Beckwith, and Jeff Herbert also moved on. Series regulars Richard Gibson and Derrick Sollers had to rely on provisionals to make the show.
Victor Lee started on the pole looking for a clean sweep of the night. Early on Victor was able to get away from the rest of the field and pull away. But in the middle stages of the event as Victor started to work through lap traffic Derek Losh was able to run him down. For several laps Derek was able to challenge Lee including getting up along side him on a couple occasions. They put a show on for the fans as they were four-wide at one point working through lapped traffic.
After the final restart Victor Lee was able to drive away and pick up the $3,000 payday in the American Modified Series debut at the Circle City bullring. Derek Losh came home runner up and Zeke McKenize rounded out the podium. Points leader Brian Shaw finished fifth after starting back in the ninth spot. The SPEC Racing Engines Hard Charger was Nick Richards who came from 18th to finish 10th.
The next series events will take place at Fayette County Speedway on Saturday July 3rd in Brownstown, IL. The event will pay $3,000 to win. On Sunday July 4th, the series will return to Circle City Raceway for a $2,000 to win event. For all the event info go to the Facebook Event page on the American Modified Series page. It will be updated with info as we close in on the event.
